A Weekend in Pictures...

Luke, Avery and I headed to Abilene for my sister's graduation. Laura is now an ACU grad and will be an elementary school teacher next year. I'm so proud of her! We had a great time with all of the family. I had a special first Mother's Day with Avery. She and Luke had a card for me that morning and a gift certificate for a necklace I've been wanting with Avery's birthstone. (i'll post pics when I get it in) I also got some beautiful tulips. Thanks Avery and Luke! And yes, I did cut my hair! It's a lot shorter and I love it. So much easier to fix which is what I need with this busy little girl I have. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day; I'm filled with so many emotions. There is no job better or more rewarding than being a mom. There is nothing I'm more proud of than being Avery's mommy. What a joy she is! I always wondered what it would  be like to be a mom. I remember playing baby dolls when I was little and dreaming of being a real mom one day. I'm living that dream now and it's better than I imagined it would be!
Happy Mother's Day to my mom! Thanks for teaching me how to be a mother and for showing me what unconditional love looks like. I love you!

Poem

I got this poem at my baby shower in Florida and I thought it was sweet for Mother's Day.

Newborn and God

A newborn baby asked God, " They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, " Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in Heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile and be happy." God said, " Your angel will sing for you and smile for you, and you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, " And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?" God said, " Your angel will tell you the most beautiful words you will ever hear and with much love and patience, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what I am going to do when I want to talk to you?"  God said, " Your angel with place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"  God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking their own life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."  God said, " Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked God, "If I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, "You will simply call her Mommy."

Chief update...

I keep getting emails asking whatever happened with Chief's path report after surgery. It is sweet that you guys care. We found out that he does have cancer. :( Luke and I are so upset, but hoping for the best. They removed it all and gave him about a 50/50 chance that he will make it assuming he does not get anymore tumors. Well, he already has another and will have it removed tomorrow morning. I hope that will be the last of it and that they removed all the cancer. We'll see. He is such a good dog and we aren't ready to loose him. He's happy though and not feeling bad at all, so we plan to keep him happy and comfortable no matter what. Thanks for thinking about us! We'll be alright; sweet little Avery is happy and healthy and we feel blessed.

My Big Girl

Avery is growing and changing so fast! I can't believe it. She has started being able to stand and hold on to her toy table (thanks for letting us borrow it Avery Kate!) and the couch. She can also pull up to stand in her crib which is hilarious to see when you walk into her room...two little eyes peeking over the side. :) I guess she'll be cruising in no time. She still has not completely  figured out how to crawl the right way, but she can get across a room fast. She scoots and army crawls on her elbows, but lately she has been up on her hands and knees and rocking, she hasn't figured out that she can take off yet. When she does, I'm in trouble! This girl is into to everything; she never sits still!  She is tons of fun though and I am enjoying every single second of watching her grow and learn something new.

Weekend Fun

Aunt Laura and Blaine came to visit this weekend. We had a fun time! Avery loved all the extra attention. :) Laura and Blaine are graduating next weekend from ACU and Avery is excited to go to her first ACU graduation to see her Aunt. She's a little future wildcat!

Avery x 2

Avery Kate came over last night to play while her mommy and daddy had a date. We had a lot of fun! The Averys' love playing together. They are going to be the best of friends. :) Chloe had some fun with the girls too, but I forgot to get a pic with her. We had a great time playing and eating spaghetti. Thanks for sharing your sweet little girl with us Chris and April!

                Avery shared her highchair with her friend;
she's already learning to share. :)
