Chief

For those of you who have been asking, Chief made it through surgery just fine. He's a trooper. The vet made a very large incision hoping to remove everything in case it is cancer. We won't know until the path. report comes back. He's being pampered...currently asleep in bed with daddy. :) He's on pain meds and it is acting kinda funny.  He ate his dinner when he got home and then several hours later was just staring at a banana on the table forever. I peeled it and gave it to him (don't tell Luke cause we usually don't feed him our food) and he went on his merry way. So random that he wanted a banana so badly when he has never had one before. Funny what a little morphine will do to ya I guess!

PINK

I admit, I'm a big fan of all things pink. I tend to gravitate to all baby outfits that are some shade of pink or have at least some pink in them. I guess I'm a little too much of a girly girl. :) I'm trying to be better about branching out and picking all the adorable green, brown, red etc. outfits for her. When I saw this onesie at wally world of all places, I knew Avery had to have it. It cracks me up! She's also wearing her first "ponytail" in the picture! She just barely has enough hair to make one on top.

Yummy!

I still think Avery's favorite food is the avocado. I think it is so funny! She just LOVES them. She was extra happy at dinner time the other night so I snapped a few pics. She loves to sit in her highchair. I don't think she has ever gotten unhappy in it as long as she has something on her tray. I let her try to use her spoon sometimes and she likes that. She really just plays with it, but she's getting a little closer to learning how. I'm glad she likes avocados b/c they are high in good fats, but mommy needs to quit eating what's left over. I don't need any extra fats, good or bad! :)

Warm Weather and Sweet Chief...

We have been enjoying the warmer weather. It's so fun to put Aves in her summer clothes. I think yesterday was in the 90's. I'm looking forward to taking her to the neighborhood pool soon. On to Chief, those of you who know me, know that I love this dog. :) He was my first "baby". He has some spots on his back that the vet says looks like skin cancer in Boxers. He has surgery scheduled next Thursday to remove it. We really hope it is not cancer. He is a good big brother to Avery and she LOVES him. She lights up the minute he comes in the room. I have always loved this quote that I have framed, " no matter how much money you have or how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich." I know those of you who don't like dogs think I'm a crazy! We just love him and hope that he will be alright. I won't ask for prayers cause I feel silly when there are lots of people's children out there who are sick and need prayer, like Stellan. Just think about us on Thursday!

Rockin' Dinner

A couple of nights ago, we had dinner at our friend, Tiffany's house with April and Avery Kate. Luke was the only guy there b/c Avery Kate's dad, Chris had work that night. He enjoyed laughing at us girls play Rock Band on the Wii. I had never played before and it was a lot of fun. I must say, I wasn't too bad on the drums! Tiffany did a great job singing and April rocked out on the guitar. The Avery babies enjoyed watching and playing with the TV remotes. :) I see more Rock Band in our future, good times!! Thanks Tiffany for hosting!

Bluebonnets

I took Avery's pictures in the bluebonnets in my parents neighborhood Easter weekend. I love the one of her studying the bluebonnet to figure out what it is. She is so curious about everything and has that funny stare. That pic was taken right before she decided to eat the bluebonnet and I had to dig it out of her mouth. :)

Florida!

Luke, Avery, and I went to Florida to see some old friends. We had such a great time. I was worried about how Avery would do on the plane, but she did great! We brought Baby Einstein on the laptop which was a lifesaver. We stayed on the beach; it was beautiful. I can't believe we lived there for over 2 years. I don't think we appreciated the beach as much then. Avery loved it! She wanted to get in the water, but it was a little too cold. It was a constant battle to keep her from eating the sand! She wore her bathing suit for the first time and looked so cute. She's a little Florida girl after all! As much as I don't like to admit it, she was born in Florida, not in Texas. :) We showed her the house we used to live in and the hospital where she was born. It was a great trip! We are exhausted and glad to be home.

8 Months!

Sweet Avery,
You are eight months old now baby girl! You are officially bigger than your bear. I can't believe it! Where did my tiny little baby go? Just yesterday  we were playing dress-up with your preemie clothes. You are so much fun at this age! Your daddy and I are loving every second. You are getting to be such a big girl now. Your cute little smile has two tiny teeth on the bottom now. You have decided that you like baby food and will finally try some new things. Your favorites are avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, and carrots. You are getting closer to crawling and can manage to army crawl/scoot yourself across the floor to get to something you want. You are quite a little mommy's girl and will not let just anyone hold you. I secretly like how much you want to be near me. :) I can't get enough of you anyways!  You still do not quite sleep through the night.:( You do love your sleep though and get 12-14 hours a night, sleeping in until 9- 9:30. Mommy gets about 8-9 hours so that's nice too! Your favorite toys right now are your singing bunny, your puppy dog, the TV remote, your pink rattle and the play car keys.  Oh how I love to sit and watch you play. You light up when daddy comes home from work and when the dogs come near you. You have me and your daddy wrapped around your little finger! We are head over heels in love with you. I'm so proud to be your momma my little princess. I'll love you forever,  I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be. Happy 8 months sweetheart!

A Happy Easter

Avery had a great first Easter! She got lots of goodies and had a fun day with family. (she's not spoiled or anything) Luke and I gave her a basket full of presents when she woke up and she was excited to take everything out of the basket, then put it back, then out again and so on . :) I'm looking forward to her using this little basket with her name on it for years to come to hunt Easter eggs. I tried not to be sad thinking that this was her last "baby's first holiday". I can't believe how fast my little baby is growing up. She'll be 8 months in a few days!! We'll never forget this day with her. We'll also never forget what Jesus did for us so we can enjoy days like this. Happy Easter!
