In My Daughter's Eyes...

In my daughter's eyes
I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I am weak
I see who I want to be
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
How it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's holding on when your heart has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
And though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you'll see
How happy she made me
For I'll be there...
In my daughter's eyes.

The Dallas World Aquarium

We took Avery to the Dallas World Aquarium and we had a blast! This was her first time to go any where like this. She loved it. She really likes animals, so we thought she would have fun. Plus they had sharks and Luke loved that. :) It was a great family fun day! WARNING: this post has a lot of pictures!

She didn't care too much about the sharks; I guess she takes after me on that one!

Her favorites were the penguins and the flamingos. She loved watching them. It was so cute to see. She even got to pick her very own penguin from the gift shop to take home! We held up a flamingo and the penguin and she went for the penguin. :) It was such a fun day! We are already looking forward to taking her back when she is older.

Easter Basket Full of Sweetness...

Easter Bunny

Avery and I met Luke for lunch at the mall this week and went to see the Easter Bunny. Avery wasn't sure what to think. She was excited at first and thought he was a really fun, huge stuffed animal. After I put her on his lap and stepped away to take pictures, she became a little nervous. Daddy picked her up before the tears began to flow. :) We then ate lunch together; it was a fun day! We are looking forward to Easter. I got sad thinking that this is her last "baby's first" holiday. My baby is growing up too fast!

starting to get a little upset
                                  with the bunny :)
I'm so in love with this sweet little face

Just Hatched...

Spring is here! We have been enjoying the beautiful weather. Avery loves to be outside! I just love spring time!! Can't wait to put her in all of her cute spring and summer clothes. Her onesie in this picture says "just hatched"! Too funny. She got this cute chicken this weekend from her Mimi and Papa; we had a great time. Happy Spring Everyone!

Feeling Better...

Avery is feeling a little better! No more vomiting and just a little fever and stuffy nose. She felt good enough today to play with some of her new toys. Nana and Grandpa sent her a Vtech walker, which she loves. She is using it in the picture as a foot rest. Ha! Great-Grandma and Grandpa Wiley sent her the car. She gets soo excited when we put her in it! It came in the mail last night and I think it has made her feel better to get to play in it. :) Mimi and Papa (my parents) are coming this weekend to visit and we are excited. Luke and I get to go out on Saturday night. Woo Hoo!

Sick Baby...

Poor little Avery is sick! :) She has a cold or some virus I think. She started feeling yucky on Tuesday and has gotten worse. It is so sad to see her sick. She has never really been sick before. I called her doctor and she says to keep her home unless her fever goes up and then to bring her in. So far, her temp. has stayed below 102. She cannot breathe through her nose, so it makes everything hard. She has been throwing up as well. Poor baby! We have had to drive around in the car to get her to sleep because she can breathe better sitting up in her seat. She has never had trouble getting to sleep; she loves her bed and always goes right to sleep at bedtime. We have elevated the head of her mattress, been using the humidifier, flushed her nose out with saline numerous times a day, and everything else I know to do. Needless to say, we are exhausted around here. No fun having a sick baby! She is still is so sweet despite feeling so bad. We can still get her to smile now and then and that makes me feel better. I'm just praying it doesn't turn into an ear infection or something worse. You would think that being a NICU nurse and taking care of sick little babies would prepare me for this, but nope, my little baby has a cold and I can hardly stand it. I guess that's just part of motherhood. :)

Six Month Pictures

I took Avery to get some pictures made a few weeks ago. It pretty much went terrible because she was terrified of the lady taking them. She screamed most of the time. I never could get her to smile. As soon as it was over (all of 5 min. or so) I picked her up and she smiled at me and giggled. That little stinker! I couldn't get her to do it for the photographer. She just started being scared of people she doesn't know, but it is usually just when they try to take her from me. I'm not sure why just looking at the photographer made her so scared. Oh well, a few of them are cute. I thought the Grandparents might want to see. Enjoy!

7 Months!

You're seven months old baby girl! I can't believe that. You sure have changed a lot this past month! Daddy and I have enjoyed watching you grow and change, and we have tried to cherish every second. This is such a fun age. You are such a sweet baby! Your smile still melts my heart and I love the sound of your laugh. You laugh the most when daddy makes funny sounds, Chief and Chloe walk in the room, when your stuffed bunny rabbit sings "Jesus loves me", and when mommy sings to you and tickles you. Your little gummy grin now has one little tooth on the bottom! So cute. You are into everything you can get your hands on and you never sit still. You are very curious about everything and every one. You have become quite a momma's little girl and have started being a little wary of new people. I love that you love me and trust me so much.
You can sit up now and play with your toys like a big girl and you love that. I love hearing you babble and giggle while you sit and play. You also started drinking juice out of a sippy cup like a big girl! I'm excited to see what this next stage in your life brings.
I can't thank God enough for choosing me to be your mommy. It is the greatest gift I have ever received.  I love you so much baby girl! You are my whole world. Happy seven months!
Love, Momma

Play Date...

Avery had a play date with a few other babies from church. She loved it! She played so hard that she just completely crashed the second we got in the car. She loved the other babies, especially her sweet little friend Eden(as you can see by Avery "taking a bite" out of her in the the picture below!) They had great toys. I came home and told Luke I felt bad that we have deprived Avery! She had never seen so many fun toys. She loved the car walker and she actually walked around in it! I was shocked!
